What does "Split Participants" mean in a double elimination bracket?

Split Participants allows organizers to host single stage (and two stage tournaments) with participants starting in the losers bracket (aka "lower bracket").

To set up a single stage tournament with participants in the losers bracket simply select the "Split Participants" option.



The bottom half of your participants will then start in the losers bracket





Two Stage Double Elimination Tournament With Split Participants



Host a two stage tournament where the performance of participants' in the group stage (aka "pool play") will determine which participants start the final, double elimination stage in the losers bracket

Here's a look at the Double Elimination group stage with two Pools of 16 participants each. They are labeled as "Group A" and "Group B".



Here are the standings at the end of the group stage, which shows two players advancing from each group. The number of participants you advance from each group can be configured in tournament settings. Notice that each group has one undefeated participant and one participant with a single loss.



The two participants with one loss start the Final Stage in the losers bracket, while the two participants without a loss start the final stage in the winners bracket (aka the winners bracket).



To set up a two stage tournament where the performance of participants in the group stage, determines which participants start the final stage in the loser bracket simply select the "Split Participants" option with both stages.



Don't forget you can always drag and drop players where you wan them before starting either stage of the tournament.
