Share your match results easily on Facebook and Twitter using Social Image Sharing.

|| This is an experimental Challonge Labs Feature. The Social Image Sharing is available only for Single Elimination, Double Elimination, Round Robin and Swiss tournament format.

When creating a new tournament, scroll down to Experimental Features and check the box to enable Social Image Sharing.

Next, start the tournament and begin reporting scores. Here's how to upload Match Attachments and Report Scores.

Once all scores are submitted, click the arrow icon for Share Match Results.

Select your preferred Social Media platform.

Why Some Participants Go Straight to Round 2

In single and double elimination brackets, you'll often find that some participants skip the first round (they receive byes).

|| This cannot be avoided unless the number of participants is a power of two (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, …) — a number that can be repeatedly halved until only 1 person remains.

Imagine you paired everyone in round #1 of a 5 player bracket: 1 v 5, 2 v 4, 3 v ?.

To avoid this, an initial qualifying round will occur to create a balanced bracket. Following this rule, round #1 would have 4 v 5. The winner, or qualifier, would advance to join players 1, 2, and 3 in the next round. The bracket at this point becomes balanced with 4 participants, which is a power of 2.

What does "Split Participants" mean in a double elimination bracket?

Split Participants allows organizers to host single stage (and two stage tournaments) with participants starting in the losers bracket (aka "lower bracket").

| When creating a tournament that is large enough to need more stations A station can be any location that a game or match will be taking place during an event or tournament. Stations can be anything; courts, rinks, diamonds, tables, consoles, PCs, chessboards, dart boards, corn hole boards, swim lanes, you name it. Challonge has convenient and easy-to-create stations and assigning matches to them is just as convenient and easy.

| When in the tournament screen, click the Create new station button in the Stations tab.

| From here, enter the station's location in the Name field.

|| You can also add a live stream link if individual stations have different streams running!

||| From here, there are two options: you can either manually assign matches to your stations or have Challonge do it for you!

| To manually assign a station, click the radio button next to whichever match-up and then click the Assign Match button.

| Or, you can have Challonge assign match-ups to different stations by enabling these toggle switches located beneath your stations:

Match Wins

Rank by number of wins. If ties are possible in your game, they'll be factored in as well.

Game/Set Wins

Game/set refers to the sets of scores that are reported for a match. For example, in the image below, the score sets are 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, so "Player 1" has 2 set wins, and "Player 2" has 1 set win.

Points Scored

The total number of points a participant scored throughout the tournament. In the image above, "Player 1" scored 16 points, "Player 2" scored 10

Points Difference

Total points scored minus points given up. In the image above, Player 1's points difference is 6 (16 - 10), and Player 2's is -6 (10-16).

Set Difference

Total sets won minus sets given up. In the image above, Player 1's set difference is 1 (2-1), and Player 2's is -1 (1-2).

Custom (points system)

Participants earn points whenever they win or tie matches and games/sets. You define how many points are awarded for each case. This is especially helpful for awarding losing teams points for their effort. For example, you might opt to award 2 points for a match win and 1 point for a set win. For the match in the image above, "Player 1" would earn 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 points for the match win and set wins, and "Player 2" would earn 1 point for the set win.

How To Upload Match Attachments & Report Scores

As a participant, you can help ensure the reporting of accurate scores by uploading match attachments along with every reported score. Follow these steps to learn how to upload match attachments and report scores in Challonge.

Match Attachments can be anything required to verify the match scores including but not limited to a screenshot at the end of the match, a photo of of the table, scoreboard, or screen, or even a video of the match itself. Tournament Organizers that are Challonge Premier Users enable all participants to upload files that are up to 25 MB in size, which is increased from the 250 KB standard limit provided to all organizers.

| First, visit the tournament bracket you are participating in on Challonge. If you have an opponent scheduled, you'll see two different ways to report the scores. The first is the large "Report Your Scores" button, which brings up the same window as second option which is clicking the paper and pencil icon next to your match. You can choose whichever path you prefer.

| Now that the "Report Scores" modal window has appeared, start by first selecting the "Attachments" section.
