How to Create a Private Tournament

Control your audience.



Tournaments are always welcome to be shared and discussed, particularly for huge sporting or gaming events. At the same time, we understand that this is not always the case.

Regardless of the size of the competition, tournament organizers also host private tournaments amongst their peers. Tournaments being held in the office, schools, or even at home can be made private with this process.


During the tournament creation, scroll down to Advanced Options > Permissions > enable the option Exclude this event from search engines and the public browsable index..



By enabling this option, the tournament will not be listed from the tournament search on Challonge and public search engines. This is especially helpful for keeping any information posted on your bracket contained and not visible to people outside your group.

In this example, we created a Scrabble tournament and it is automatically listed when searching for the game or tournament on Challonge:



Once the tournament is set to private, it will no longer show up in the tournament search:
